Abstract

1378428 Traverse mechanism SPINNER OSAKEYHTIO 8 Feb 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 5708/72 Heading D1J In a device for winding a thread on a spool, the stroke length of a reciprocating guide is reduced as the spool diameter increases, and is also cyclically varied, and the speed of the guide is changed with changes in the stroke length. As shown, Fig. 1, spool 2 is rotated by friction roll 3 rotated at constant speed. Thread guide 4, Fig. 2, is reciprocated by grooved roller 5 via link 18. End 20 of link 18 engages rod 19 which may be pivoted to alter the stroke length of guide 4. The increase in diameter of spool 2 pivots lever 22 to pivot lever 19 via follower 23, roller 24, and rod 25 to alter the stroke length of guide 4. Cam 27, rotating at constant speed, continuously pivots lever 14 via lever 25 to cyclically alter the stroke length. Roller 5 is driven from friction roll 3 by friction roll 10, spindle 9 and friction roll 11 mounted on pivoted member 29. The pivoting of rod 19 pivots member 29 via link 15 to alter the speed of roller 5 and, thereby, the speed of guide 4. The degree of movement of member 29 may be controlled by adjusting the position of roll 14 which bears on link 15. In this manner the product of stroke length and stroke frequency may be varied as desired, e.g., may be kept constant. For Figures see next column
