Abstract

1378316 Refrigerant compressors PRESTCOLD Ltd 22 Feb 1973 [24 Feb 1972] 8553/72 Heading F1N [Also in Division F2] The moving parts of a reciprocating refrigerant compressor having a drive-shaft 11 are lubricated by oil delivered to a reservoir 14 by a thrower 12, the oil passing into an oil delivery bore in the end of the shaft projecting into the reservoir 14. The thrower 12 is clamped to the shaft 11 by a nut 13 and runs in an annular chamber defined between a housing cover 15 and an annular (or arcuate) disc 19. An aperture (20) flanked by tube 22 and formed in the disc 19 allows oil to enter the annular chamber from a housing 16 containing a drive motor 17, 18 and the compressor (not shown).
