Abstract

1377517 Feeding webs KALLE AG 20 Dec 1971 [21 Dec 1970] 59087/71 Heading B8R [Also in Division F2] In a web transporting arrangement including a three-high roller system constituted by a takeup roller, an intermediate roller and a delivery roller, either the take-up roller or the delivery roller comprises a shaft 4 carrying two discs 5, 6 which co-operate with the other roller to support the intermediate roller. The arrangement is such that a web, in its passage through the system, is engaged by only one nip as it passes successively between the take-up roller and the intermediate roller and between the intermediate roller and the delivery roller, the discs 5, 6being adjustable along the shaft 4 to accommodate webs of different widths. In a second embodiment a roller (7) of smaller diameter than the discs 5, 6 is positioned on the shaft 4 between the discs which are rotatably mounted on the shaft (Fig. 2, not shown). In a third embodiment the roller (7) is integral with the discs (Fig. 3, not shown). The rollers may be of steel, e.g. stainless steel, or plastics material, and may have rubber or plastics coverings.
