1377378 Changer spindle PIONEER ELECTRONIC CORP 15 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 58354/71 Heading G5R A record supporting spindle for a record changer comprises primary and secondary sets of pawls 10, 19 for supporting records on the spindle, the secondary set being actuated outwards to support the records other than the lowermost by axial movement of control shaft 1 and the primary set being retracted to release the lowermost record by rotational movement of the shaft. The shaft 1 extends upwardly through bearing 2 and is secured to a collar 5 which engages a primary pawl support 8. This support is vertically movable but prevented from rotation by pin 9 and supports three primary pawls 10 which are outwardly biased through windows in the spindle shell 3 by springs 11. A pawl actuating cam 12 is secured to shaft 1 and is formed with hooks 12a which draw the primary pawls radially inwards when the shaft is rotated. At its upper end the shaft supports a secondary pawl support 17 which is axially movable of the shaft between a spring stop 14 and a conical cam member 15 which are fixed to the spindle shell. Support ring 20 on the pawl support guides the secondary pawls to a radially outward position when the shaft is moved downwardly to bring the support 17 into engagement with cam 15. The axial and rotational movement of the shaft and the timing of these movements is controlled by a grooved rotatable cam member Fig. 2 (not shown).
