1383710 Record changer spindle PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 Sept 1972 [11 Sept 1971] 41805/72 Heading G5R In a record changer spindle for large hole records, secondary supports act to lift the record stack, other than the lowermost record, during the change process and pivot during the change process following release of the last record to halt the process and allow switch off of the changer. During record change thrust rod 2 moves member 6 upwardly a distance b against the action of spring 10 in sleeve 9 and ribs 14 formed on the member move into slots 13 formed on the sleeve. During the first part of this movement the resilient secondary supports 8 which are pivotally mounted on cantilever arms 7 of the member 6 are pivoted by spring 20 surrounding sleeve 9 so that projections 21 of the supports explore the centre hole wall of the lowermost record then enter the interstice between that record and the next lowermost. The supports then commence lift of the stack above the lowermost record and at the same time the U-shaped resilient primary supports 16 secured to member 15 are moved upwards over a distance a by thrust sleeve 3 whereby the inclined parts 17 of the supports engage the parts 18 of the casing and the supports are withdrawn to allow the lowermost record to drop. Return movement of the thrust rod 2 and thrust sleeve 3 restores the spindle to its initial condition. In the absence of a record on the spindle the secondary supports pivot when thrust rod 2 moves upwards until projections 22 on the supports enter the slots 13 in the sleeve thereby stopping the further upward movement of the thrust rod. This stopping of the rod allows the changer to be switched off.
