Abstract
1376761 Electro-painting NIPPON STEEL CORP 14 Sept 1972 [14 Sept 1971] 42667/72 Heading C7B In the electro-painting of a conductive material A.C. is applied between two electrodes one being the material to be painted and the counter electrode having an oxide film >0À2Á thick. The counter electrode may be of Ta, Nb, Zr, Hf, Al, Ti, Y, Cr, W, Bi, Mg, Mo, Ge, V, Si or their alloys. A third electrode may also have an oxide film >0À2Á thick, may comprise any of the above materials and may be connected to the conductive material via a variable resistor. The oxide film may be produced by anodic treatment in boric acid, H 2 SO 4 , CrO 3 , HNO 3 , NaOH or Na 2 SO 4 . The paint may be acrylic, polyester, alkyd, epoxyester or malaic oil resin. The A.C. may be sinusoidal, saw tooth or square wave.
