Abstract

1361471 Coated titanium plates SOLVAY ET CIE 29 July 1971 [29 July 1970] 35744/71 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C1 and C7] A coating comprising the compound A 2 BO 6 where A represents one or more of invalent Co, Cr, Fe, Mn, Al, Ga, In, Rh and V and B represents one or more of hexavalent Te, W, Mo, and Re is formed on a titanium or titanium alloy surfaced electrode. The electrode may have a core of Cu, Al, Fe or alloys thereof. The coating may also comprise an oxide of the MO 2 where M represents one or more of tetravalent Ir, Mn, Os, Rh, Ru, Sn and Ti or anoxide of the type M' M"O 4 where M' represents one or more of trivalent Al, Cr, Fe, Ga and Rh and M" one or more of pentavalent Nb, Sb, Ta and V. In the Examples the coating of Ti plates with Rh 2 WO 6 , Rh 2 TeO 6 ; Rh 2 (Te<SP>1</SP>/ 3 W<SP>2</SP>/ 5 )O 6 (Rh 0À9 Fe 0À1 ) 2 WO 6 ; Cr WO 6 3RuO 2 , Fe 2 WO 6 3RuO 2 , Cr 2 Te O 6 3RuO 2 , Rh 2 TeO 6 3RuO 2 , Rh 2 TeO 6 6LrO 2 and 2Rh 2 TeO 6 3RhSbO 4 by mixing salt solutions (the solvents exemplified being organic or hydrochloric acid), applying them, e.g. by a brush to titanium plates and subjecting the coated plates to thermal treatment is described.
