Abstract

1474608 Easy-open can ends INDEX LTDA 15 May 1974 [16 May 1973] 21645/74 Heading B8D A crimped on metal can end is provided with single continuous or discontinuous weakening groove 5 of uniform depth in a recessed panel 4, which is devoid of any attachments, the groove having a depth not exceeding 5% of the thickness of the can end and permitting opening of the can by means of a knife levered about the crimped edge 2 of the can end. The groove may extend around only a portion of the circumference of the panel 4 as opposed to completely therearound as shown. Marks 9 indicate the groove. The can ends may be made of aluminium or other metals, such tinplate, black plate etc., used for making the can bodies.
