Abstract

In the process of electro-painting by which a dispersion of a resin containing acid groups and pigment is electro-phoretically deposited on an article, and the coating stoved, the deposition is effected by an A.C. power source of preferably 100-250v and current density 8-15 A.S.F., whereby articles are coated at both anode and cathode sites. A uniformly smooth coating may be obtained by rotating the electrodes during treatment or by making one electrode of wire. A continuous process can be achieved by using as one electrode an endless wire which runs from the electro-phoresis bath to a cleaning bath, the articles to be coated passing continuously through the electro-phoresis bath. The resins and bases used in the coating bath may be as defined in Specification 1,027,813.
