Abstract

1376403 Packaging containing a wet napkin J H G WELIN-BERGER 23 March 1972 [23 March 1971] 13681/72 Heading B8C A hermetically sealed package containing, e.g. a wet napkin, which is rolled, or folded, to form a rod-like body and which may be treated with fluid, ointment, powder or the like so as to be suitable, e.g. for washing hands and face, on journeys and in hospitals, &c., comprises a portion 1 which is formed by rolling a sheet of foil, e.g. plastics, into a tube and sealing its longitudinal edges together, which has at one end a plane seal 8 and at the opposite end a fixed, separate, end seal 7, and which is of cylindrical, eliptical, or slightly conical shape. The preferably disposable napkin, rolled, or folded, in zig-zag form, is inserted into the package before the base 7 is hermetically sealed thereto. A circular row of perforations 4 in the tube 1, nearer the end 8 than the end 7, is sealingly covered by a tape 5. After tearing off the tape 5 the napkin can be made accessible by breaking the perforation and removing the top part of the tube. If the napkin is allowed to remain partially exposed from the remainder of the package the latter can be used as a handle while the exposed part of the napkin is used. In order to give the package additional rigidity a small pin, 6 which may be provided with a cotton swab, or the like, can be placed in the centre of the napkin. The longitudinal weld of the tube is preferably reinforced by a plastics tape.
