Abstract

A plastic bag dispenser pack (10) comprises a closed-ended sleeve (12) containing a roll of separable plastic bags (16). The sleeve (12) has a line of perforations (22) through which the roll of plastic bags (16) can be drawn after the sleeve is torn along the line of perforations (22) to create an opening for the plastic bags (16). <IMAGE>

Description

DISPENSER PACK This invention relates to bags, for example, plastic bags which are made in the form of a continuous roll, individual bags being removable from the roll by tearing along a line of pre-formed perforations.
The invention also relates to a means of dispensing such bags.
Plastic bags are commonly provided on a continuous roll which is formed from a tube of plastics material, the tube being sealed at equi-spaced locations, and also being provided with equi-space lines of perforations so that individual bags can be removed from the roll.
The roll of bags can be positioned on a roller so that the roll can be rotated and individual bags removed from the roll.
Also, a roll of plastic bags can be located in a sleeve which can also be in the form of a plastic bag, the wall of the sleeve having a removable strip so that the bags on the continuous roll can be drawn through the opening in the wall of the sleeve when the removable strip has been removed.
The removable strip is usually defined by a continuous line of perforations so that the strip can be removed merely by tearing along the perforations.
The present invention seeks to provide a simplified form of dispenser pack in which a roll of plastic bags is located within an outer sleeve and the sleeve is provided with a slit initially in the form of a single line of perforations.
Preferably, a punched hole is provided at each end of the line of perforations to prevent the sleeve tearing beyond the end of the perforation line.
The present invention will now be more particularly described with the accompanying drawings in which; Fig. 1 shows an outer sleeve in flat form of one form of dispenser pack according to the present invention, Fig. 2 shows one form of dispenser pack according to the present invention and, Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 in Fig.2.
Referring to the drawings, a dispenser pack 10 comprises an outer sleeve 12 usually having a thickness in the range 15 to 50 microns, containing a roll 14 of plastic bags 16. The roll 14 is provided with sealing lines 18 at equi-spaced intervals and perforated tear lines20 also at equi-spaced intervals so that the individual bags 16 can be removed from the roll by tearing along the perforated lines 20.
The sleeve 12 is provided with a line of perforations 22 terminated at each end by a punched hole 24 which serves to prevent the sleeve tearing beyond the line of perforations.
In use the roll 14 of plastic bags 16 is located within the sleeve 12 and the sleeve 12 is closed at its neck by a tie 26. In order to remove the bags 16 from the sleeve 12, the sleeve is torn along the line of perforations 22 in order to provide a continuous opening in the form of a slit. The end bag on the roll 14 is then be drawn through this opening and removed from the roll by tearing along the line of perforations 20. In this way the end of the next bag will be left projecting from the sleeve and the bags 16 can then be removed from the roll 14 as required.
It will be appreciated that a dispenser pack in the form according to the invention enables the roll 14 of plastics bags to be initially provided in a clean and hygienic form and also provides a simple and effective method of removing the bags from the sleeve and enabling the bags to be easily detached from the roll.
If required more than one line of perforations 22 and associated punch holes 24 can be provided in the sleeve 12.

Claims (5)

1. A plastic bag dispenser pack comprising a roll of plastic bags attached together and releasable from one another by a line of weakness between adjacent bags, the roll of plastic bags being contained within a sleeve closed at both ends, the sleeve having a line of weakness through which the roll of plastic bags can be drawn after the line of weakness has been broken.
2. A plastic bag dispenser pack as claimed in claim 1 in which the line of weakness is formed by a series of perforations.
3. A plastic bag dispenser pack as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 in which a hole is provided through the wall of the sleeve at each end of the line of weakness.
4. A plastic bag dispenser pack as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which the sleeve comprises an open ended bag, the open end being closed by a tie after insertion of the roll of plastic bags within the sleeve.
5. A plastic bag dispenser pack constructed and arranged for use of operation substantially as herein described and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
