Abstract

1375681 Packages R G CARROLL 27 March 1973 [29 March 1972] 14664/73 Heading B8C An ampoule for dispensing gas/liquid mixtures, such as a radioactive gas and a saline solution, has an elongated neck 12 in which the liquid is stored, the neck tapering, into a frangible seal 22 at one end 20 which separates the liquid from gas stored at low pressure in a bulb 16 sealed over the end 20. The free end of neck 12 is flanged to receive a perforated sealing cap 34 with rubber gasket 40. In use; a tapping syringe needle is passed through gasket 40 to rupture seal 22 and allow mixture of gas and liquid. A second needle is passed through gasket 40 to admit further liquid for volume displacement of the mixture into the tapping syringe.
