Abstract
1375526 Line balancing equipment FELTEN & GUILLEAUME KABELWERKE AG 15 March 1973 [19 April 1972] 12624/73 Heading H4R An arrangement for the transposition and capacitive equalization of quad groups to provide balance in a low frequency communications cable includes a connecting element 1 having two rows of contacts and which accommodates a circuit panel 8 carrying equalizing capacitors. The contacts of one row are connected to respective cores of an incoming cable 3 and to respective insulated wires 4, while the contacts of the other row are connected to respective cores of an outgoing cable 6 and to respective insulated wires 7. The free ends of the wires 4 and 7 are interconnected to provide the required transpositions between the positions of the cores in the incoming and outgoing cables. Preferably the circuit board 8, as well as providing mountings for the equalizing capacitors, has a row of contacts 11 on one edge of the board which are connected to corresponding contacts on the other edge of the board, the contacts on one edge of the board mating with one of the rows of contacts in the connector 1 to provide connection to the cable cores, while the contacts on the other edge are used to connect the cores, via a connector 9, to a measuring apparatus for deciding and checking the equalization.
