Abstract

1494344 Two-part couplings PORTA SYSTEMS CORP 28 Oct 1974 [29 Oct 1973] 40574/74 Heading H2E A connector block comprises a hollow moulded thermoplastic body 12 with rows of pins 22, alternate rows projecting from both sides of the body 12, the pins projecting only from panel 11 being connected to wires 17 from one cable and the other pins being connected to wires from a second cable on the opposite side 13, moulded plugs 40 (Fig. 5) located by holes 15 in the panel 17 being used to simultaneously connect four pins in pairs to connect the wires from the two cables, each plug 40 being kept clear of panel 11 by a spacer 52 so as not to disturb the wire wrapping. Each of the pins 22 which terminates in the interior is connected to a corresponding inwardly projecting test pin 24 by wire wrapping via conducting clip 62 on a circuit board strip 60, or the connection may alternatively be made by plating on a printed circuit board (not shown) through which the pins 22, 24 project. The connector block includes a strip 19 with segments 19a for displaying the identity or address of the groups of wires connected to the corresponding portion of the connector block.
