Abstract

137,551. Richards, T. E. May 21, 1918. Shelters for housing aircraft.-Consists of a shed, Fig. 4, to accommodate the wings of an aeroplane, and a central annexe, Fig. 3, at the rear to receive the body. The shed is made up of right-angled triangular roof trusses a', b, c raised or buttressed rear posts a and connected by a ridge girder or beam p' and braced purlins, the front purlin l<1> being supported by end posts f. The annexe is constructed of symmetrical roof trusses raised on pairs of posts w<1> and connected by a ridge bar p and purlins d<x1>, l<x1>. The members of the trusses are fastened together, as shown in Fig. 6, by applying on their ends, and bolting together, pairs of metal cheeks having radiating ribs. A spring tongue x on the member engages slots in the cheeks by means of its turned end x' and a stud x<2>. Specification 137.548 is referred to.
