In a tent comprising an awning laid over a framework formed of a plurality of collapsible carrier members stayed a predetermined distance apart, each carrier member comprises two stays 10, 11, Fig. 5, forming rafters, pivotally secured to the two arms of a ridge member 12 and adapted to be held in alignment therewith, the outer ends of each stay 10, 11 being pivotally secured to an inwardly inclined'post 15 having a ground-engaging foot 15b, 15c, Fig. 7. The top end of each stay 10, 11 has a flat part 10a, 11a which fits in the forked end of the arm of the member 12 to which it is pivoted by a bolt 13, being held in operative aligned position by a pin 21 engaging holes 14, 14<SP>1</SP> in the parts 10a (or 11a) and 12. The lower end of each stay, e.g. as 10, has welded thereto a fishplate 17 having a hole 17a, whilst the top end of the post 15 has welded thereto a fish-plate 18 having a hole 18a and being pivotally connected, e.g. by a pin 19, to the plate 17. On erecting the framework, the parts 10, 15 are arranged in correct angular relationship, and a pin similar to 21 above mentioned is passed through the holes 17a, 18a to secure them. The carrier members are stayed to longitudinal stays engaging eyes 23 at the ridge and eaves of each carrier member. The posts and stays may be made of light metal tubes.
