Abstract

1375203 Rod etc.; tensioning devices CCL SYSTEMS Ltd 17 March 1972 [1 April 1971] 8391/71 Heading F2G In a multi-rod, hydraulically operated stressing jack for the tendons in a pre-stressed reinforced concrete structure, rod grippers 26, in a plate 19, are operated by a front plate 24, which transmits the gripping force to a back plate 23, for application to the grippers 26. On operating the ram, inner cylinder 9 moves stressing head 18 to the right and, as plate 24 leaves plate 36 the force of compression springs 32 is transmitted, through bolts 33, to plate 24, which forces the grippers 26 into holes 25 and into engagement with the rods. On retracting the head 18, the wires are freed, by contact between the plates 36 and 24, which enables release tubes 31 to drive the grippers 26 out of holes 25. Casing 1 is strain-gauged, at 48, for load measuring purposes. A callibration scale 55 is provided for measuring extension.
