Abstract

1,066,512. Press brakes. W. BEYELER. March 24, 1965 [April 24, 1964], No.12416/65. Heading B3E. A press brake has at least three jacks acting on and spaced along the movable press member, the piston-rod of each end jack extending axially through each end of its cylinder to bear on the movable member, and means to stop the movement of the piston-rods of the end jacks before those of the centre jack(s) so that the latter then act to deflect or deform the movable press member. The cylinders of two centre jacks 12 and two end jacks 11 are carried by the framework of the press and extend into openings 10 in a movable press member 7. Piston-rods 11a, 12a of the jacks 11, 12 bear on the lower parts of the openings 10 to lower the press member 7 towards a fixed member 5. The downward movement of the piston-rods 11a is halted before that of the piston-rods 12a by an axially adjustable sleeve acting as an abutment for the piston in the cylinder 11. Continued movement of the piston-rods 12a causes deflection of the press member 7, the outer ends of which are prevented, by the abutment of the upper ends of the rods 11a with the upper parts of the openings 10, from moving down. Movement of the rods 11a may alternatively be halted by a counter-pressure in the cylinders 11.
