Abstract

1375191 Rigid sails A H G MURRAY 6 Jan 1972 [8 Jan 1971 (2)] 1065/71 and 1070/71 Heading B7V In a sailing craft having a freely rotatable rigid sail assembly 16, 17, 18 (Fig. 1, not shown) a counterweight 26 is positioned above the bottom of the rotatable assembly to balance the assembly about its main pivot axis 13 under pitching or rolling accelerations. The counterweight is positioned so that it also balances with respect to the pivot axis the products of inertia about each of two orthogonal axes which are orthogonal to the pivot axis.
