Abstract
1375020 Electroless silver plating SCHERING A G 8 Nov 1971 [19 Nov 1970] 51740/71 Heading C7F An electroless silver plating bath contains free cyanide ions and a selenium compound or sulphurselenium compound. The compound may be methyl-propylselenosulphan, potassium diselenode, dipropyl diselenode, bis- (para-potassium sulphophenyl) -diselanan, potassium benzyselenosulphate, potassium selenocyanate, propyl selenocyanate, sulpholan selenocyanate, and triethyl selonium bromide. The bath may also contain sulphur compounds and polymeric organic compounds, condensed inorganic compounds, silicates, phosphates, borates. The silver salt may be nitrite, fluoride, chlorate, perchlorate, acetate, sulphate, cyanide or potassium dicyanoargentate. The reducing agent may be sodium hypophosphite, sodium tetrahydridoborate, and formaldehyde. The bath may also contain other metal compounds, e.g. thallium nitrate, sodium hexahydroxostannate, mercury nitrate, and palladium chloride, to form alloys of silver. The substrate may be Cu, Ag, Au, Ni, brass, glass, plastics, and ceramics. The Specification discloses several baths.
