Abstract

1374121 Delivering measured quantities of fluent material BINKS-BULLOWS Ltd 1 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 29554/71 Heading B8N A device for delivering measured quantities of material comprises measuring chambers 20 controlled by a pair of angularly movable closure members 11, 12 each being in the form of a plate shaped as a major segment of a circle with the chord being parallel to, and spaced 180 degrees from the chord of the opposite closure member, such that material fed into a chamber when uncovered at one end passes out into a funnel 21 when the chamber is uncovered at the other end. As shown, a series of chambers 20 are equi-spaced around a fixed plate 10 and the pair of closure members 11, 12 are carried on a hub 16 for rotation by a motor-driven shaft 13, the members being spring-loaded into sliding engagement with the plate. No one chamber 20 is open at both ends at the same time. When powder or granular material is being delivered, preferably a notch 23 is provided in the hub 16 to remove particles from the bearing and discharge them through a countersunk portion 24 of the plate 10 to the funnel 21. The material to be delivered is fed by gravity to the upper face of the plate 10 but the device may also operate with a pressure difference between the opposed faces of the plate.
