1317412 Mixing apparatus ANCHOR HOCKING CORP 6 Sept 1971 41487/71 Heading B1C [Also in Division B8[ In apparatus for metering and mixing two granular materials each is supplied from a hopper to a pair of metering pockets in a reciprocating sliding plate and thence through one of a pair of discharge openings to a common collecting chamber. As shown, for each of two hoppers 12 (14) there is a single discharge aperture 38, 40 each supplying a pair of metering pockets 52, 54 and 56, 58 in the reciprocating plate 36 positioned between respective apertures 44, 46 and 48, 50 leading to a common collecting chamber 28. As shown in Fig. 7 the arrangement is such that while one metering aperture 54 of a pair is filling the other 52 is discharging through one 44 of the apertures leading to the collecting chamber. At the other end of the stroke, pocket 54 will discharge through aperture 46 while pocket 52 is filling. The size of the metering pockets may be adjusted by removable inserts as at 60. The apparatus is described in connection with the supply of clear and coloured pellets to an injection moulding apparatus, see Fig. 1 (not shown), and the slide plate may be actuated in dependence upon the level in the filling hopper thereof.
