Abstract

1373993 Steaming textile material ETABS JOSEPH LAGARDE 17 Jan 1972 [18 Jan 1971] 2101/72 Heading D1L In a method for steaming textile material the material 4 is placed in a vessel 5 closed by perforated lid 6 and perforated base 10 and arranged in a container 1 such that steam entering through conduit 15 must pass through the material to be discharged through conduit 18, steam is then passed into the top part 3 of the enclosure by opening valve 16 until the pressure sensor 22 in the bottom part 2 of the enclosure registers a preset increase in pressure when valve 16 is closed and discharge valve 20 is opened to remove the steam from the chamber until pressure sensor 22 has recorded a preset decrease in pressure in the enclosure when valve 20 is closed and valve 16 opened again, this succession of steam input and discharge being repeated a plurality of times. Discharge valve 17 in conduit 15 and input valve 19 in conduit 18 may also be provided to be regulated by pressure sensor 23 so that in addition to the alternating states of steam inputs and discharge from top to bottom of the enclosure a similar succession of states may be created in the reverse direction. Conduit 18 may also be provided with valve 21 connected to a vacuum pump so that the enclosure 1 may be evacuated before the process is started. Enclosure 1 may be heated externally by pipes 11, 12 and 13 welded to the top, bottom and vertical body parts respectively of the enclosure and supplied with heated fluid through conduits 11a, 12a and 13a and discharge conduits 11b, 12b and 13b respectively. Temperature sensor 14 may be provided to control the circulation of heated fluid through these external heating pipes. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2) vessel 5 is replaced by a vessel 25 having an impervious lid (not shown), perforated lateral wall 24 and perforated tube 26 mounted inside the vessel. Steam enters or leaves the vessel 25 through side walls 25 and leaves or enters through perforated tube 26 after passing radially through the textile material.
