Abstract

1373518 Hair clasps LADY JAYNE (HAIR PRODUCTS) Ltd 20 Dec 1972 [28 Dec 1971] 60238/71 Heading A4V [Also in Division E2] A hair clasp comprises a tongue 3 and a base 1 hinged together at one end and arranged to be closed about a bow-shaped spring 2 which bears at its ends 18, 19 on the base 1, there being a catch with a hook member 11 to hold the tongue and base fastened together, the spring 2 having an extension 21 co-operating with a cam surface (14) on the hook member so that it may be used to release the catch. As shown, the catch comprises two hook members 11 on the base which engage with formations 31 on the tongue, the extension 21 being arranged so that when depressed it acts on the surfaces (14) to move the hook members apart. The cam surfaces (14) are formed on the edges of flanges 13 of the hook members, alternatively Fig. 6 (not shown) the surfaces (36) are provided by the main inside surfaces of the hook members. The base, tongue, and spring are formed from sheet metal and the base may receive a decorative plastics cover (7). It is stated that the catch may comprise a single hook member.
