[Also in Division E2] A clothing belt includes a clasp assembly and a strap 30, said clasp assembly comprising a body having opposed side walls 23, 24 defining a recess arranged to receive one end portion of said trap, a fastening member 25 extending across said body and having a pair of opposed lugs 26, 27 each pivotally mounted on a respective one of said opposed side walls and extending therebetween, a shaft 28 extending between said lugs and fast for pivotal movement therewith and a projection 29 carried by said shaft and arranged to extend into said recess, and one surface of said one end portion of said strap including transversely extending abutment means, said fastening member being pivotally movable to place said projection in engagement with said abutment means to fasten said one end portion of said strap in said clasp assembly, and the other end portion of said strap being secured to the clasp assembly. In the construction shown the shaft also serves to pivot the member 25 to the side walls and it carries a plurality of the projections 29. The abutment means are ribs. In an alternative clasp assembly, the shaft is eccentrically pivoted to the side walls by pins which also engage the pair of lugs. The projection is elongated and the side walls of the body have substantially L-shaped slots in which pins near the end of the projection engage to prevent inadvertant release of the projection. In both constructions the other end portion of the belt is engaged by a pivoted jaw clamp 32 which is pivotally connected to the body. The strap can either have the ribs formed integrally or the ribs can be formed on a member 31 which is attached to the remainder of the strap either on the surface of the remainder or in a recess. The strap can be made of several pieces of leather sewn or glued together.
