Abstract

1373287 Restoring to Shape J B HICKMAN 14 May 1973 [19 May 1972] 23803/72 Heading B3Q Apparatus as described in Specification 1,332,498 is improved by a yoke 28 extending around the pulling end of the cross-member 7 and locking elements 38 so that the tensioned element 16 may be locked to yoke 28 by an element 38 while the cross-member is being returned towards the yoke and then re-locked to the cross-member by another element 38 for further tensioning without release of the initial tension. The post 1 may be mounted in a floor-recess or in a socket 8 and has a pawl and ratchet or holes 4 for height adjustment of the cross-member. A slide 6, Fig. 2, on which the yoke 28 is pivoted has a vertical opening for the post and a lateral opening for the crossmember. If required, chains 33 for resisting the pull are connected to the slide and to a bar 34 having an opening 35 for a central chain 36. The slide may be mounted with its lateral slot downwards and a support plate positioned above the locking pin 5; the post may be of round or box section.
