Abstract

1373099 Fibre opener PLATT INTERNATIONAL Ltd 1 Dec 1971 [28 Oct 1970] 51304/70 Heading D1N An open-end spinning machine has a feed roller and a feed plate forming a nip for feeding sliver to an opening roller, the feed roller and plate being mounted for relative pivotal movement about an axis transverse to the feed rollers axis of rotation. Feed roller 5, Fig. 2, is mounted on shaft 6 rotatable in arm 7 pivotable about pin 19 in block 17 to enable the feed roller periphery to be positioned parallel to the nip-forming surface of rigidly mounted feed plate 2. A spring acts to pivot arm 7 with block 17 about shafts 8, 9 to bias the feed roller towards the feed plate. Alternatively, Fig. 3, surface 28 of feed plate 38 is positioned relative to feed roller periphery 29 by pivoting feed plate support 37 on shaft 30 on bracket 31, and by pivoting bracket 31 on shaft 33 in web 34. Feed plate 38 is biased by spring 26 about pivot 24 towards feed roller 25. Sliver fed between the feed plate and feed roller is opened by rollers 14 or 35.
