Abstract
1373014 Data processing systems MARCONI CO Ltd 23 March 1972 [1 May 1971] 12568/71 Heading G4A Three processors 6-8 are connected to a majority voting circuit 9 and to an arrangement 14 which detects when, following a non- unanimous output from circuit 9, there is disagreement between the remaining two processors, a diagnostic investigation of at least one of the two remaining processors then being carried out to determine which of the two is in error, and a circuit 19 for by-passing the output of the one remaining correctly functioning processor to the output of the majority voting circuit 9. The arrangement 14 provides an output 15 indicating non-unanimous processor outputs and outputs 16-18 collectively indicating which single processor is in error. If a second processor goes faulty, all of outputs 15-18 are activated, and the two previously correct processors are, for example, given a simple predetermined operation to perform and the results are compared with a correct result stored in controller 42.
