Abstract

1372707 Rotary driers WIBAU WESTDEUTSCHE INDUSTRIEUND STBASSENBAU MASCHINEN GmbH 26 Nov 1971 [5 Dec 1970] 55010/71 Heading F4G A rotary drier comprises a pair of coaxial tubes 2 and 3 rotatably mounted within a tubular casing 4 provided with burners 5, material to be dried being fed into constriction 7 and moved along the annular drying chamber formed between the tubes 2 and 3 to discharge mouth 8, and the gases from the burners 5 heating the outside of the outer tube 3 and then being passed (via ducts 14, 13) along the inner tube 2 to an exhaust duct 22. The material and gases are thus never in contact with each other. A helical auger 15 is provided on the inner tube 2, and a further helical auger 16 on the outer tube 3 extends both inwardly and outwardly. The outer tube 3 is provided with rings 18 supported on rollers 17, and is rotated by a belt 23. Seals 19, 20 are provided. Vapour is removed at 11. The drying chamber may be inclined.
