Abstract

1372472 Soldering EISHIN KK 24 April 1972 [24 April 1971] 18959/72 Heading B3R In a method of soldering cutting tips 4 to a tool, e.g. band saw 1, the tips are brought together and aligned and are covered, for example by plates 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and 7<SP>11</SP> which may be magnetically attracted to the tips or fastened thereto by adhesive tape if the tips are ceramic. The sides of the tips 5<SP>1</SP> and 6<SP>1</SP> to be joined to the tool at cut-out 3, are left exposed, however, and the assembly is vacuum coated with solder by evaporation or cathodic sputtering. The tips are then applied to the tool and heated, e.g. in a reducing atmosphere to bond the tool and tips together.
