Abstract

824,552. Ceramic-metal seals. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. May 15, 1958 [May 24, 1957], No. 15683/58. Class 36. Ceramic and metal surfaces are connected together by inserting an assembly, consisting of a layer of titanium contacted at both sides by layers of copper, between the surfaces and heating under vacuum to or near the melting point of copper. The assembly may be juxtaposed sheets of titanium and copper or may be a sheet of titanium coated with copper. The proportion of titanium in the assembly preferably exceeds the titanium content in the titanium-copper eutectic.
