Class 87(1) [Also in Groups XXIII and XXXVI] The surfaces of parts of a cathode ray tube or similar vacuum vessel consisting of ceramic material, at least an area of each of the parts being conductive or having a conductive layer, are joined by providing a metal suspension on an area of at least one of the parts so as to be in electrical connection with a conductive area; providing on portions of at least one part a powdery glaze or enamel layer; bringing the parts together so that the metal suspension on one part is opposite a metal suspension or conductive layer on the other with powdery glaze or enamel therebetween; and melting the suspension and glaze layers simultaneously, preferably under pressure. The metal suspension remains as a suspension prior to the step of joining the parts, and may be gold, silver or platinum.
