Abstract

1371981 Drawing PYRENE CHEMICAL SERVICES Ltd 18 Jan 1972 [19 Jan 1971] 2391/72 Heading B3P [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] Metal is cold drawn using as lubricant a lubricant composition which is, or on heating to a working temperature becomes, a single phase fluid or pasty composition and that comprises an acidic reaction product comprising (1) orthophosphate radicals, (2) polyvalent metal cations which have not been introduced as the metal halide and which are not metals of Group IVA of the Periodic Table as set out in "General and Inorganic Chemistry" 3rd edition by J. R. Partington and (3) fatty, alkaryl or triterpene radicals containing 10 to 36 carbon atoms and an organic lubricant carrier and in which water, if present, is present in an amount of less than 20% by weight. The lubricant composition may be applied to the metal directly in front of the drawing tool. The metal drawn may be steel, slightly alloyed steel, zinc, zinc alloys, aluminium or iron.
