Abstract

1520422 Lubricants EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 24 Oct 1975 [31 Oct 1974] 47154/74 Heading C5F A lubricating oil comprises a mixture of (i) a tetraester of pentaerythritol with a C 16 to C 20 openchain aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, and (ii) an inorganic phosphorus acid or its anhydride or an alkyl acid phosphate in which the or each alkyl radical contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The amount of (ii), calculated as phosphorus, is from 0.01 to 0.5% (wt.) of the weight of (i). The oil may be emulsified in water by the aid of an emulsifier and mineral oil, and may be used as a lubricant in the hot or cold rolling or working of metals or as a mould lubricant.
