Abstract
1371768 Migration imaging XEROX CORP 27 Oct 1971 [28 Oct 1970] 49903/71 Heading G2H A latent image preferably electrostatic is formed on a member 10 comprising a softenable layer 13 bearing a particulate layer 14, and then member 10 is passed through curved menisci 20 of a liquid which softens layer 13 whereby particles 14 imagewise migrate through layer 13. It is stated that the surface tension forces at the menisci remove non-image forming particles 14 and dissolved portions of layer 13 from member 10 to leave a clear image. Alternatively, layer 13 may be softened by heat or vapour, and then passed through menisci 21 to remove non-image forming particles 14. The liquid may also serve to apply a fixing agent to member 10. In Fig.3, the menisci 20 are provided by a liquid droplet supported between a roller 18 and wedge 23. Other systems are described Figs.4-12 (not shown), including spray devices. A field may be applied across member 10 during liquid application.
