Abstract

1371585 Knives NIPPON TENSHASHI KK 2 Oct 1972 45395/72 Heading B4B A knife comprises a holder 1, a cartridge containing a plurality of blades 4 and a slider means 9, 10, 11 for projecting a blade from the cartridge to be held by the holder. The cartridge is held at one end in the holder by means of a latch 17, 17<SP>1</SP> loaded by a spring 20, the other end of the cartridge being retained by a projection 23 engaging a recess 28. In order to insert the blades into the cartridge, a sheath (21), Fig. 6 (not shown), is slid over the cartridge and the blades moved into the cartridge against the action of a spring 22. The full cartridge is then fitted into the holder after removal of the sheath, so that a hole in a blade engages a projection 11 on the slider means. The blades are in the form of strips each having a longitudinal sharpened edge and transverse lines of weakness. When the end portion of a blade becomes blunt, it is broken off and a new edge moved out of a support channel 6 by the slider 10, the extended end being locked by a screw 7.
