Abstract

1371553 Hammers KHARKOVSKY AVIATSIONNY INSTITUT 3 Aug 1972 36268/72 Heading B3H A hammer comprises a frame 6 which consists of two tool holders 8, 10 movable towards each other by a power unit 11, and which is adjustably. mounted on a bed 1 by a piston-rod 4 whose piston 5 is positioned in a space 18 in one of the tool holders 8, the space 18 being filled with high pressure gas for returning the frame 6 to its initial position after a working stroke. The piston-rod 4 is secured to a plate 19 of the bed 1 by nuts 20, 21 which enable the height of the frame 6 relative to the bed 1 to be adjusted. The frame 6 is held in an upper position by delivering air under pressure into the space 18 through a channel 22 in the rod 4. The working zone may be covered by a wall 30 movable by cylinders 31. In operation, a gas-air mixture is ignited in a combustion chamber 32 causing a piston head 10 carrying a die 14 to be raised relative to a guide cylinder 9 and guides 2 fixed to the bed 1. An anvil block 8, carrying a die 13 and connected to the cylinder 9 by rods 7, is moved downwards by the gas pressure acting on the bottom of the chamber 32, the air in the space 18 being compressed by the piston 5. After the working stroke, the anvil block 8 is returned to its initial position by the air in the space 18 whilst the piston head 10 is returned under its own weight. The workpiece is ejected by an ejector 24 actuated by supplying fluid through a channel 27 in the rod 4 into a cylinder 26 accommodating a head 25 of the ejector 24.
