Abstract

1371186 Electrostatic duplicating LAMSON INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 March 1973 [10 April 1972] 15253/73 Heading G2H A transferable image deposit containing a polar material is formed on one surface of an intermediate master, e.g. by typing, writing or otherwise impressing a transferable composition containing said polar material on to a paper sheet, at least a portion of said image deposit is transferred to the surface of a duplicating drum, a latent image is formed on the dielectric surface of an electrographic recording member by contacting it with at least the transferred deposit on the duplicating drum, and the latent image is developed with electroscopic marking particles conveniently in liquid dispersion. The duplicating drum is provided with a relatively insulating surface layer which may be resilient or rigid. The image deposit is transferred to the duplicating surface by pressure or electrostatic means while passing the intermediate master sheet through the nip between the duplicating drum and a roller. Where a rigid surfaced drum is used the co-operating roller should be resilient. The duplicating drum with the transferred image deposit on it may be used to produce any desired number of copies.
