1369982 Discharging containers GLOVER WEBB & LIVERSIDGE Ltd 3 Dec 1971 [9 Sept 1970] 43142/70 Heading B8E A container, e.g. a vehicle load carrying body, includes a discharge barrier 2, horizontally movable to displace and eject material from the container, the barrier 2 being movable along the container by repeated strokes of a double acting ram 4, which through rails 10 and latching arrangements 20, 26, moves the barrier along in steps. The rails 10 are disposed one along each side of the container and are horizontally reciprocable by the ram 4 through a frame 8, each rail having pairs of oppositely inclined slots 20 spaced at intervals corresponding to the ram stroke. A control bar 28 is associated with each rail and is movable relative to its rail to block either all the slots facing in one direction or the other, depending on which way the barrier 2 is to be moved by reciprocation of the ram. The sets of slots 20 that are blocked by the bar 28 is controlled by a relay lever 32 which is selectively pivotable to place either the lug 34a or 34b in restricting co-operation with a recess 38 in the underside of the bar 28, whereby the position of the bar 28 relative to the rail is determined upon movement of the rail. The slots are engaged by pins on levers 26 pivoted to a carrier 24 secured to each side of the barrier and the incline of the slots provides for driving the barrier in one direction of rail movement and releasing the drive in the other direction whereby the barrier is moved stepwise along the container.
