Abstract

1368577 Terminals Y WESSEL 28 Jan 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 4138/72 Heading H2E A terminal for releasably connecting electrical conductors comprises U-shaped leaf spring 1, the end of which presses against the contact spring 2. An eccentric cam member 3 pivoted about an axis 3a on a shaft 4, is disposed such that when rotated in an angular direction so as to force apart the spring and the contact plate, the cam member finally abuts the back wall 8 (Fig. 1a). The direction of the spring force is such that in this position the cam is stable, and a bared cable L may be inserted through passage 6 below contact 2. A groove 3b is provided for a tool to rotate cam 3, which when returned to its original position allows spring 1 to secure and electrically connect cable L to plate 2. A further cam may be provided on the same shaft to achieve synchronous opening of contact pinches associated with the cams.
