Abstract

1367838 Feeding webs &c MANULI AUTOADESIVI SpA 1 May 1972 [10 May 1971] 20233/72 Heading B8R An automatic bobbin changing device associated with an adhesive tape bobbin winding machine comprises a hopper 11, Fig. 1, receiving cores 12 for the tape and provided at its base with windows (not shown) corresponding in width to the length of the cores which are dispensed from the hopper in association with a vibrator down shoots 14, 14<SP>1</SP> for location by a guide comb 15 oscillated between locating and releasing position by a fluid cylinder 24. To change a bobbin carrying support 26 on which are disposed spaced wound bobbins, the support is placed on slide 25 and the bobbins are stripped of the support 26 and cores 12 are threaded on to the support 26 by engaging the end of support 26 adjacent the apertured plate 27 with a recessed end 20 of a slider 18 which is pulled towards its journal 17 by a chain 22 attached to a fluid cylinder 24. Following axial displacement of the support 26 past the plate 27 the comb 15 is rocked to permit the ends of the support first to be lifted out of the shoot 14-14<SP>1</SP> by lifting arms 29, 30 and then gripped by grippers 33, 34 for transferring the suport into the winding machine. To accommodate sets of cores of different widths in the support 26, the tape supporting rings may be formed by a number of nesting rings 37, Fig. 3, the supporting rings being spaced from each other by distance pieces 40.
