Abstract

779,417. Stator winding machines. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. April 13, 1955 [April 26, 1954 ; June 1, 1954]. No. 10666/55. Class 35. In a stator winding machine the stator support is angularly adjustable from one winding position to others but the stator is held stationary throughout the winding of each complete coil which is carried out by a wire layer traversing the stator bore and co-operating with guides on the stator support for guiding the wire into the two slots being wound. As shown, the wire is lead through the stator bore by a continuous chain 69 and guides, as shown in Figs. 11 and 12, may be used, the guide on one side only of the stator being shown. The guide comprises ribs 98, 99, 100 extending from a base 96, the rib 98 guiding the wire into the appropriate slot while the as yet unused wire passes over ribs 99, 100 into hooks 116 carried by the stator nest 18. The guide shown is for a four-pitch coil but can be readily replaced by guides for other slot pitches. As each coil is completed the ends of the wire are twisted on to pins 77 which also serve to support the hooks 116. The device for angularly moving and clamping the stator nest is illustrated in Fig. 1 (not shown). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 725,128.
