Abstract

1,206,570. Winding hanks. L. SAVIO. 3 Nov., 1967 [8 Nov., 1966], No. 8277/70. Divided out of 1,205,818. Heading D1J. In the hank winding apparatus shown, a yarn-tangling rod 4 is at least partially covered with a card surface 15, there being supporting cups 107 for initially holding the rod 4 adjacent to a yarn traverse means 2 and snap holders 9 for subsequently holding the rod 4 adjacent to the hub 5 of the reel 1, the cups and holders 107 and 9 each having an abutment 8, 10 for locating the longitudinal position of the rod 4. The rod 4 is initially supported close to the yarn traverse means 2 so that the yarn ends F can be tangled with the rod. Thereafter the rod 4 is transferred to the snap holders 9 so that hank winding can commence. The spacing between the abutments 8 and 10 in the longitudinal direction is equal to half the spacing between the midlines of two adjoining hanks. This ensures that the yarn ends are slanted clear of the hanks.
