Stoppers, bail &c. - The stopper b<1> of a glass jar &c. a<1> is secured by means of a bar 2a carrying a pad 2b and having at one end a tongue 8 adapted to engage one of a series of slots in a plate 7, and at the other end a link 6 adapted to engage a toothed lever 9, both the plate 7 and the lever 9 being mounted on a band 1 fastened round the neck of the vessel. A rubber band 3 is placed between the stopper and the vessel. The band 1 is adjustable, and the bar 2<a> made telescopic to enable the device to be used with different size jars. A rib on the lever mounting catches over the rim of the vessel and serves to hold the band 1 in position whilst the stopper is being secured.
