Abstract

356,075. Bottles. CRESER, A. A. T., 3, Manor Park, Richmond, Surrey. Jan. 1, 1931, No. 69. [Class 125 (i).] A device for use with milk bottles b and similar containers comprises a base a<1> to engage the bottom of the bottle, and an upright c for use as a handle from which extends an arm d pivoted at f to the centre of a cover e. The arm d is acted upon by a spring jl, so that the cover, which is provided with a centring flange e<1> on gasket e<2>, is held securely on the mouth of the bottle, which can be used as a jug, the contents issuing from an aperture h to a spout i. A dust-excluding cover k is pivoted at f and is adapted, when closed, to overlap the end of the spout slightly. In a modification, the parts c, may be replaced by a spring arm, and in another form, Fig. 3, the arm d is pivoted at d<3> on a bracket c<1> of the handle c, a spring-pressed plunger j urging the arm d so that the interior of the bottle neck is engaged by the gasket e<2>. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the cover is formed as a tubular spout il, a vent e<5> being provided. The hinge f may be replaced by a ball-and-socket joint.
