1365676 Centrifugal pumps JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 8 Dec 1971 [11 Sept 1970] 43509/70 Heading F1C [ Also in Division H2] A liquid fuel pump comprises a stator 12 surrounding a rotor 10 comprising a frusto-conical chamber 13 coaxial with a second chamber 14, the smaller diameter end of chamber 13 defining an inlet 16 for centrifugal impeller 15 arranged between the chambers 13, 14 to co-operate with a discharge volute passage 17 in the stator. A cylindrical member 18 which has an inlet 18a terminating adjacent impeller 15 and an outlet joined to the wall of chamber 14 is provided with a second centrifugal impeller 22 adjacent the second end of member 18 for discharging fluid from the inlet. As shown chamber 14 is also frusto-conical and is integrally formed with member 18 which is supported by flange 21 and perforated webs 26. Impeller blades 23 are secured between flange 21 and a plate 24 and holes 25 are provided in member 18. The stator and rotor form an electric induction motor. Blades may be provided on the stator adjacent the inlet 16. The member 18 is stated to cause the liquid to be separated from the vapour and to be pumped by impeller 15, the vapour being discharged by impeller 22.
