Abstract

1365516 Silica granules AKZO NV 7 Oct 1971 [9 Oct 1970] 46744/71 Heading C1A [Also in Division C3] SiO2 granules prepared by granulating a mixture of SiO2 powder and water having an agitation pH as defined of less than 6À0, e.g. as low as 2À0, and then heating the product. The pH may be adjusted by adding H2SO4 to the granulation water. The SiO2 powder may have a surface area of 100-300 m.<2>/g. and an oil absorption of 2-3À1 cm.<3>/g. and be prepared by wet precipitation from an aq. silicate soln. The granules may be heated to a temp. of 105- 175‹ C.
