Abstract

1364356 Packaging machines AUTOMATED PACKAGING SYSTEMS Inc 2 May 1972 [3 May 1971] 20402/72 Heading B8C In a machine 10 for packaging articles 52 in bags 53 interconnected to form a web 12, the web is drawn over rollers 13, 14 by feed rollers 16, 17 and passes downwardly to the mouth of hopper 51 where a bag is opened by an air blast to receive articles 52. The top of the loaded bag is then pressed against heat-sealing bar 62 and serrated knife 63 by pad 65 on sealing bar 64, and finally the sealing assembly is pivoted about shaft 75, while the bag is still gripped as above, to tear off the bag along the perforations produced by knife 63. The lower feed roll 17 and the sealing assembly are pivoted about points 42, 43 to facilitate threading the web 12 into the machine.
