Abstract

1364330 Flameproofing wood CHEMISCHE FABRIK KALK GmbH 5 June 1972 [4 Feb 1972] 26181/72 Heading DIP [Also in Division A5] A flame-proofing agent for the flame-proofing impregnation of wood, especially of wood for underground structures, is an aqueous solution containing from 10 to 45% by weight of calcium chloride and from 0.1 to 3.0% by weight of a non-foaming and non-ionic wetting agent. The wetting agent may be an alkyl phenol polyglycol ether. The wood, which may be spruce, pine or oak, may be impregnated by immersion in the solution in an open trough at atmospheric pressure for a period of 6 to 60, preferably from 6 to 48 hours. Alternatively, impregnation may be effected by spreading or spraying the agent on to wood several times at intervals. The process also confers protection against rotting.
