Abstract
1364273 Cigarette holders; tobacco smoke filters W F VAN ECK 6 Aug 1971 37082/71 Headings A2C and A2M A cigarette holder 102 includes a filter cartridge 104 of the kind in which smoke is expanded and cooled to cause moisture to be condensed and tars to be precipitated and be deposited on the walls of the expansion chamber 108. As shown in Fig. 3, smoke enters the chamber 108 through a nozzle 107 that projects into the chamber 108 so that the smoke has to reverse its flow direction before passing out of the chamber 108 through an opening 109. The smoke then flows round the outside of the chamber defining member 105 and thence passes to a narrow bore 112 in the mouthpiece part 103 of the holder 102. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, baffles 130, 131 are included.
